Autumn

Autumn is my favourite season, still warm enough to be outside, but cold enough for blankets and hot chocolate when you get home. Outside the world is beautiful, leaves change colour and trees and bushes are heavy with fruit to pick. I've just started making damson cheese, and in a week or so our grapes will be ready for grape jelly :-)

We've been getting outside lots, just enjoying the nice Autumnal weather, I love this shot of Meg on the beach from our recent visit to family in Brighton (bitter sweet as a funeral, but at the same time lovely to see family) - it was cold and blustery but oh so lovely to be by the sea.

Autumn makes the school run way more fun too. We take the long way round and walk through these communal gardens which have lovely trees and lots of leaves, Isobel says "crunchy munchy leaves".

They have been loving playing chase and throwing leaves at each other, I've had one or two funny looks walking back through town with 2 bedraggled leaf covered children, but the rosy glows and big smiles are more noticeable than the mess (I think so anyway!).

The girls love Autumn too. Last weekend we went on our annual family conker collecting walk. We found loads and loads and the girls have been using them for all sorts of games.

Having a picture taken on this stump is an annual ritual, started when Meg was 2. The grin is still the same but she's oh so much taller now! And of course there is a little sister to pose with.So here they are, having a quick picture, whilst daddy does his annual monkey impression.

And here is our recently updated autumnal table.

So altogether with the leaves and the conkers and the start of Autumn term and the cooler weather its feeling altogether very autumny round here. Just in time for yesterdays equinox. So we're settling in for a quiet cosy autumny kind of weekend.

  1. Beautiful! I love Autumn so much. :)

We did school runs last week for a friend, and each time had to play with the sycamore spinners and pick up a few pretty leaves!
