Grapes

A couple of year ago, Dav, next door, and Rob decided to grow grapes for wine making, mainly as it involved a nice day out at a vineyard picking and inspecting vines (and a little tasting too!).

Last year we had a very small crop, but this year we've done very well, so we picked our grapes.

Washed and took the stalks off, all the time getting very messy and having lots of grape squishing fun.
We boiled them down.

And then did lots of straining, in several batches.

Then the mash and some of the juice went next door for the start of the wine making process. Whilst I boiled up the rest of the juice, with sugar (I really love this colour).

And made 9 jars of lovely, home grown grape jelly. Which is the start of my Christmas hamper making. I've got marmalade, chutney and more jelly (apple and mint), planned too.
