Feeling Festive

Well it's December 1st, advent calendars have been opened, we did a collage nativity scene when we got home from school and we've read the first of our "advent stories" before bedtime. So in the words of the song "it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas". I'm actually really excited about this year as both girls are at a fantastic age and are fully immersed in all the tradition and excitement of the season.

I grew up with lots of lovely close family time and little traditions at Christmas, which I'm loving passing on to the girls. So we got started last weekend, with Isobel's first ever trip to the theatre.
We went to see a production of Bagpuss, which was amazing, just 2 women playing with puppets on stage, but the simplicity of it was wonderful and so engaging, Isobel was enthralled and Megan loved the stories - especially the one about the Hamish.

I've also been busy making and baking for gifts, here is a batch of marmalade, I'm doing another batch at the weekend and having finally reconnected with my inner knitter have finished 5 hats and 2 scarves, and have a list of various other bits to get done for the big day.

Rather later than usual, due to being busy at work and Rob being away an awful lot with his job, we made the Christmas cake, which is now happily sitting in a tin waiting for a bit more brandy and some icing.

I also update the seasonal table, to it's pre-Christmas winter look, and hopefully, if I get a husband back this weekend I'll be retrieving the nativity set from the loft to add to it as the advent season progresses.

And last but by no means least my little twinkle star, who is so excited as it's the first year she really understands what is happening, she drifts around singing snatches of carols and is very clear she wants a pram from santa, nothing else, just a pram.
