Wintery Walking

Today we made the most of the current colder weather to enjoy a lovely wintery walk in the cold but glorious sunshine.

Wrapping up warm and getting outside is just so lovely when the sun is shining brightly. We headed up to the nearest park and had a wonderful time running round and enjoying the frosty grass.

We also did a bit of nature spotting and found these early catkins, and brought home huge handfuls of fallen alder cones for the seasonal table.

We enjoyed the swings and had the park all to ourselves! I even remembered to take a cloth to wipe the swings (instead of ending up with wet bottoms)!

We experimented with the ice on the benches.

And even did some literacy practice!

This little monkey can walk - Meg at the same age was always a tad reluctant with long distances, but Isobel never moans she just gets on with it - probably as she is mainly chasing her big sister round! With that oh so familiar call of "me too".
And of course in the sunshine there was no ice, but fab shadows to play with!

Then we headed home for hot chocolate, a warm bath and snuggley story time. All in all a lovely day :-)

  1. Hot chocolate is such a fantastic end to cold days out! I used it to keep the spirits up whilst stood freezing cold at the bus stop today waiting for yet another late bus! Worked a treat!

Looks like a wonderful morning out, don't you just love it when no-one else ventures out on days like that, makes it all the more special.
